Start Your Own Business with Support
Free support to start your own business! This suite of services is funded by government to help small and micro business, start ups and people needing help to launch or pivot a business.
We offer Exploring Being My Own Boss Workshops, and the New Enterprise Incentive Scheme for self-employment.
We can help eligible participants (you must have working rights in Australia) who have an idea for a business, and are not working more than 25 hours per week. Holmesglen provide services in: Melbourne North East/West, Melbourne South East, Western Melbourne, Canberra and surrounding regional areas, plus South Australia, Adelaide North, Adelaide South, and Murray South East region.
Training, workshops and support is mainly online, with some face to face where indicated.
Our services include access to initial training and development of a commercially viable business plan and 2-year financial projection, a year of free mentoring, monthly business health checks, quarterly viability checks and guidance, and you may choose to also complete a Cert IV in Business if you wish. Eligible participants on Centrelink support may also be able to access a special, non-business income tested Allowance for 39 weeks.
We have specialist services for people from non-English speaking backgrounds, those with hobby concepts they wish to turn into a business, Indigenous business aspirants and we have a particularly focus on those that are unsure if business ownership is possible for them!
What is NEIS?
New Business Assistance with NEIS assists eligible job seekers to kick-start their business venture by providing access to:
- Training in small business management
- Business advice and five business mentor sessions.
All at no cost to you, and in addition, if eligible:
Nine months of NEIS income support
Six months of rental assistance (residential only).
Holmesglen has been actively involved in providing NEIS training and support for over 20 years and offers training in Victoria, South Australia, and Australian Capital Territory.
